What is "Kony 2012" and "Invisible Children"?
"Kony 2012" is a term that being the latest trend on the internet this time. I was confused by the comment of a commentator on youtube in some videos that writing comments is only "Kony 2012". At first these words I consider the term as well as English slang and jargon. What was the meaning of "Kony 2012"? I resumed my search in google by typing the term "Kony 2012" and within seconds there are all kinds of information that explains the meaning of "Kony 2012".Initially I did not find the meaning of which is roughly nothing to do with someone's comments on the video I watched on youtube until I found a video of what and who exactly is meant "Kony 2012". Video which I found quite long about half an hour but to get rid of my curiosity I watched the video till the end. Apparently Kony 2012 campaign was conducted by a group calling itself the "Invisible Children" in order to protest the behavior of Joseph Kony, a man who came from Uganda who for 20 years for crimes against humanity have been put through by kidnapping children and making them as an accomplice and his followers.
These children (who are men) taught to use guns and violence even killing his parents and the women serve as objects of Kony's sexual gratification. This is done with a motive to strengthen his power in certain areas in Uganda. However strangely enough no one can keep track of where its existence. Even the police and the government of Uganda is also raised their hands in this regard. Some victims who survived one of them is Jason Russell finally tells the same bitter experience who forced by Kony's group to killing his parents and in his attempt to escape his brother was shot and killed. They felt it was no hope for life.
The Efforts to bring Kony to the international court on charges humanity raised by criminals seeking to Kony became popular so that everyone knows and are familiar with these criminals. And will then form a public opinion that Kony is barbaric behavior and must be stopped. Kony makes a well-known figure around the world will be evil.
I finally found a mean of "Kony 2012" that is nothing to it that Kony be brought to the court no later than the year 2012, by way of disseminating information to the world that Joseph Kony is a villain of humanity and deserve to be punished severely. Figure than as a pointer year 2012 also used as a symbol that this group will close at least 20 public figures (celebrities, athletes, famous people and others, such as Rihanna, Kim Kasrdhasian, Zuckerberg, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry) and 12 policy maker (like Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Ban Ki Moon) to campaign for the arrest of Kony and help Kony immediately punished for crimes that had been done.
I do not know if there is a link between the term slang, trends so on with "Kony 2012". What is clear in my use of language that is easily remembered and transmitted through social networking media especially the frequent to use it is a famous person will facilitate the deployment of a new word and with specific intent as well, such as "Kony 2012".
