DUI Arrest Records for Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown Arrested

Bobby Brown Arrested for DUI
Bobby Brown was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), according to news reports.

TMZ reported that "the ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston" Brown allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher while he was driving.

However, this isn't the first time Brown has been arrested for DUI -- his first DUI arrest was in 1996. And, in fact, many of his run-ins with the law involved addiction-related problems.

The International Business Times reported that Brown developed a crack and heroin addiction in the 1990s, though he has said he no longer uses drugs and only drinks alcohol now.

Bobby Brown was also arrested for marijuana possession in 2003 (in addition to driving without a valid license and speeding). Brown has gone to rehab for his substance abuse problems.

A report released earlier this month showed that drug and alcohol addictions are surprisingly common today. One in 10 U.S. adults reported that they were at one time in recovery from drug or alcohol problems, according to a report by the Partnership at Drugfree.org and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.

That means there are as many as 23.5 million U.S. adults who at one time had addiction problems.

"These findings serve as a reminder that addiction is a treatable disease and recovery can be a reality," Steve Pasierb, president and CEO of the Partnership at Drugfree.org, said in a statement. "We are just scratching the surface here and more research is needed in this area, but we are proud to collaborate with New York OASAS in this meaningful process."
