Shooting at Chardon High School
At least four people were injured and one student was killed in a shooting that occurred in the state of Ohio, USA. The shooting was reported on Monday (27/2) morning local time at Chardon High School, a town about 30 miles east of Cleveland.Police said a student opened fire with a pistol. The students had fled before finally surrendering.
In a show at one of the internet sites, seen parents and students gathered in the schoolyard.
Meanwhile, an FBI spokeswoman said five students were injured in the shooting, one of whom died. The gunman was arrested about half a mile from the scene.
"The man who allegedly did the shooting had been detained so that schools are safe now," said Superintendent Joseph Bergant, as reported by orange.co.uk, Monday (02/27/2012) night.
Cleveland Clinic spokesman said the five victims are in different hospitals. Three people were airlifted to hospital in Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, while two others are located at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, a suburb of Cleveland.
An eyewitness said she saw the gunman when he opened fire in the cafeteria. At 07.30 local time audible popping sound dar-way corridor.
"Then I saw a kid with a gun to shoot," said Heather Ziska (17).
