Oilers "Taylor Hall" Injury Face After Accident (Youtube Video)

The Edmonton Oilers lose  to Blue Jackets after Taylor Hall injured After Taking Skate To Face In Warmups

It was seriously a freak accident, as Taylor Hall slid on the ice, taking out teammate Ladislav Smid. As both players coasted along the ice and into the boards, Corey Potter tried to jump over the duo, hoping to avoid the collision. Unfortunately, that led to Potter’s skate sliding across Hall’s face.

taylor hall injury faceIn what can be described as nothing more than a freak accident, Hall stepped on a puck and lost his footing during warm ups and slid into Ladislav Smid, taking out his feet. Smid and Hall both crashed into the boards as teammate Corey Potter was swinging around. Potter attempted to leap over the crashing duo, but only caused more damage as his skate hit the head of Hall. Fortunately, Corey Potter managed to not hit Hall directly in the eye during the accident. The cut was severe enough, however, as Hall required 30 stitches to close the wound.

Puffy and swollen, the skin around his left eye is black bleeding into blue into purple, yellow and even a little green. A baseball hat covers the massive gash — sewn together with 30 stitches — that runs from just above left eyebrow all the way into his hairline. It’s the result of being sliced by teammate Corey Potter’s skate in a freak accident during the Oilers’ warm-up ahead of Tuesday’s game in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.

As expected, Hall wore a helmet (set a size bigger than usual to accommodate the bandage) for the pre-game skate Saturday. The injury happened when Hall tumbled into the boards during the warm-up and Potter, while trying to jump over the fallen Hall, raked Hall’s face with his skate blade.
