Etta James Died at 73 in Los Angeles

Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame member Etta James, one of the greatest soul singers in history, has died in Los Angeles at age 73.

Her death today, January 20, was due to complications from leukemia, and she also suffered from hepatitis C and dementia. She is survived by her husband, two sons and numerous grandchildren.

Etta James won four Grammy Awards, including a lifetime-achievement award, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

Etta James had a number of hits over her more than five-decade career, but she is perhaps best known for "At Last," "I'd Rather Go Blind" and "Tell Mama."
