Jason Richards V8 Dead

Jason Richards (V8 Supercars star) has died after succumbing to a cancer after battling for a year with the disease.

Jason Richards was just 35 years old and had a reputation of being a hard competitor, but also one of the genuine nice guys outside of the race car.

After winning three-straight New Zealand Touring Car titles in his native country in 1999, 2000 and 2001, Richards went on to race in 284 V8 Supercars races, winning one (Winton, 2006) and finishing on the podium six times, including three times in the Bathurst 1000.

Richards had to step down from V8 Supercars racing late in the 2010 season, but in 2011 took part in several test sessions and support races (see those race reports above in the tribute above).
